From the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya city

Suvarnabhumi Airport is the new Bangkok airport (opened 2006). It is located south east of Bangkok, closer to Pattaya than the old international airport, Don Muang which is north of Bangkok and is now used for regional flights. Now that Highway 7 to Pattaya is completed, the travel time from the airport is now less than 90 mins.

If you are looking for transport from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya, you have a number of options.

What time will you Arrive?

Will you be arriving during the day or late at night? The bus services to Pattaya and Jomtien run during the day till early evening. If you arrive late at night your choice is limited to a taxi.

PT Taxi Service have an office on 3rd Road in Pattaya.
Airport to Pattaya fare: ฿1,000 including highway toll fees.
Pattaya to Airport fare: ฿900 including toll fees.

They offer reliable, courteous service at a great price. Contact them by email or by phone to book ahead. Recommended.

What are your options if you don’t have a booking?

If you arrive at the airport without a booking, you have a couple of options.

1. Public Taxi. This is a government controlled taxi service. Look for the signs on Level 2 (Arrivals Level) for “PUBLIC TAXI”. Fare to Pattaya is ฿ 1500.

2. Wait until approached by a tout, or independent operator. Fare is negotiable, in the range ฿1200 to ฿1500. Make sure you agree on a price before you load your bags into the taxi!

3. There are limousine services available. They are more expensive!
Fare to Bangkok is ฿ 800 upwards. Pattaya fare is ฿ 2,000 upwards.

Note that taxis in Bangkok run on Natural Gas, so you will find that part of the trunk (boot) space is taken up with a gas cylinder. If you’re in a party of two or more, you might find that your luggage doesn’t fit in the trunk! One option is to reserve a mini van.
